Dykstra Pilot Cutter 62 “Alina” 2016

Aline is a 62 ft Dykstra Pilot Cutter, one of his most admired designs. She was built in Holland and launched in 2016 as an alternative to a 68-foot Classic Sloop, featuring a longer waterline for better performance and a shorter (fully carbon) rig for easier sail handling with a reduced crew. The combination of a modern square-head main and removable cutter stay with heavy-weather sails and easy-to-handle Code 0 make her a fast cruiser. She regularly exceeds 9.5 knots of cruising speed! Her deep 3.85m lifting keel combined with ballast wing tanks ensure a comfortable upwind ride, while also making most anchorages accessible. With all-electric 3-speed winches and a V-boom, the sail plan can be comfortably handled.

Designed with long-range cruising in high latitudes mind, the hull is ice-reinforced and is made up of 6 watertight compartments. The yacht has huge fuel (2100 liter) and water tanks for increased autonomy. Special attention was given to the insulation and anti-condensation treatments. The deck layout is relatively clean and provides room for stowing a RIB for easy and rapid launching.

Aline was built for an owner active as a major technical supplier in the superyacht industry. As such she is packed with technology.

Aline's technical processes are governed by an industrial Schneider PLC coupled to a Hatteland PC running a SCADA software for intuitive control. For safety reasons all processes automated on the PLC can be manually operated as a backup. The software is displayed on one of the 3 B&G touchscreens, complemented by a full B&G package including 8 repeaters. Other navigation and communication equipment includes AIS, forward depth sounder/scan, 2 fixed B&G VHF, 2 portable VHF with docking station. The Yachtspot 4G GSM and WiFi antenna connected to an internal WiFi router network will ensure you can stay connected when close enough to shore. The Iridium phone including docking station allows connectivity via satellite when further away. A 28 kWh lithium ion battery pack keeps everything running until they are automatically recharged by the 13 kW generator or shore connection.

A chiller/heater provides plenty of comfort through silent fancoils, individually controlled in each room on board. 3 fridges with a total volume of 385 liters of which 2 top loaders can be used as freezers as well. The galley is complemented by a Miele 4-burner stove with electric oven. In the aft day head you will find a Siemens washer/dryer combination with 7/4 kg capacity. The Samsung TV screen is stylishly hidden using a TV lift. It is connected to a Marantz amplifier which can also play music right from your phone via the onboard WiFi network. The dimmable all-led interior lighting allows you to set the mood for a cosy night in. As you can see, Aline is really set up for long-range trips!

Outside Aline's winches are all-electric, 3-speed 2 kW each. The large diameter of these winches make handling high tension lines a comfortable experience. The retractable Sidepower thruster is also electric, rated at a more than sufficient 250 kgf. A hydraulic powerpack allows for easy trimming of the sails. It controls the Navtec hydraulic cylinders on the  boomvang, Main outhaul, Jib halyard, Cunningham, Cutterstay and Keel-lift. The anchor windlass is also hydraulic and connected to the same powerpack. This allows for hauling in long lengths of chain without the electric motor overheating. The deck is lit by courtesy deck/boom lights and mast-up lights. A carbon passerelle allows for easy access from the aft. The fore peak houses the Bauer dive compressor and custom made brackets for 4 diving bottles.

Aline carries a total of 2,500 litres of ballast, divided over the fresh and grey/sea water system. All the electrically operated valves and pumps can manually controlled or set to an automated program on the PLC. The engine room housing the six-cylinder Steyr diesel, generator, water maker, automatic fire extinguisher and various other equipment is located aft of the galley. It is easily accessible via a watertight door and includes a small workbench.​
